term, good for you! To have the experience of seeing a rattlesnake giving birth right before your eyes would be awesome. I'm always amazed at what a high percentage of people are fearful of snakes, even those who are generally right at home with wildlife. We have a goodly population of rattlers here and I've always found them fascinating. Here's a link to a picture of one of the beauties I took a number of years ago. Can't wait to see yours. www.angelfire.com/bc/canuck2/wildlife.html

Actually found out that I have 13 baby rattlesnakes. These are the ones that I was able to seperate (Scary job). The odd-ball snake is a baby copperhead.

Amazing pic Canuck2!!! I never became fascinated with them until I accidentally stepped on one several years back while bow hunting! I was hit twice without the rattler ever rattling. Lucky me, I did have on snake chaps or I may not be here. I was at least 30 minutes into the woods and another 30 minutes from the nearest hospital. Since I am around snakes often out in the wild, I just figured I would learn to deal with them and possibly understand them a little more. 99% of what you hear is wrong about snakes. They can and are dangerous when provoked. They also will 99% of the time prefer to escape while using a bite as the last effort to escape.

I have never killed a snake, until last year when my brother got bit. Under the circumstances it was the right thing to do. I have always been fascinated by snakes, or reptiles in general. My youngest brother is the same, he has six pet snakes at home, no poisonous ones though.
But, after my brother got bit it has changed my outlook a bit. Most people are afraid of snakes and believe they have some sort of evil associated with them. The bible does say that they will be cursed, so I imagine that is part of that.
I believe they deserve the same respect as all other wildlife, but I am not sure about having an obsession with poisonous snakes.
Remember I wanted to keep that baby deer, but that wasn't best for either of us.

I am not afraid of snakes but i do respect them. For me my biggest concern is me or someone on my crew getting bit. Wem are constantly in snake infested areas and have frequently seen rattlers and copperheads under our lumber piles. I did kill a couple a few years ago in Pa. Here is my pic of that one.
