Who uses one??? I have a doe decoy i use from time to time. Im looking into getting a buck decoy to go along with it. I have had great luck using my doe in the past. With the prerut going on i thought maybe this would help pull some of the bigger bucks out of the woodwork. I used this decoy i have now combined with my can to pull in 2 bucks the other night. Just curious what you guys are doing.

I have mixed results using a decoy. It's all about timing.Finding that right spot at the right time of the season.

Never used one, but have strongly considered it. Keeping the decoy scent proof is the only draw back that I can see. I agree that timing would be crucial to how well the buck decoy would work.

We have a doe decoy that we have used during the rut but mixed results. I will say that the several bucks that were drawn to it were SOOO focused on the doe that I could ahve been doing jumping jacks in my tree stand and not scared them away. Granted the bucks were not Huge...a fork and a 6 pt. As for the scent issue we sprayed it down with no scent during transport then estrous around the tail end once we placed it. We set it near the corn pile as if she was feeding since her head was down. We've only used it a couple time though.

Mixed results seems to be everyones census here. I have had some great luck using one. The timing does need to be right and the deer must cooperate. I have killed some nice bucks using this decoy. Like Dag said they focus on the decoy 100%. The best times using it for me have been in the prerut and during the rut. Other than that i dont bring her out. And you really dont to overuse it in any one area. Maybe use it only 2-3 times in any stand. It can be very effective if used properly. I will set up the decoy then spray it down with scentkiller and put some deer herd in a stick on it then if its rut time i will put code blue on a rag and tape it to the tail. Works really good for me.

The part I hate about using decoys is when you are relaxed and even maybe take a nap (not saying I do that ) when you wake up and get that jumpey feeling and see a deer comes to find out it's your decoy.LOL

I tried my bow target as a decoy. It did get a little attention. It could help me because we hunt alot of lanes where it could help stop the deer for an extra min. But, I don't like taking chances of spooking any deer around me. If a small buck or doe comes in to investigate and gets spooked, that bothers me.

Grassi i will say ive had that happen. As for the does being spooked i really dont care about them. I do not like however when a young buck gets spooked. Thats one reason i only use it one or two times at a spot. I have had youngins get spooked by the decoy but only to have them back in the same stand only hours later. Then ive had them never show again at times. So it can be somewhat detrimental but i would rather have them spook from a decoy not really knowing why that deer wont move than being spooked by myself.
