smoked a doe tonight with the bow at 33 yrds,..... she went 15 yrds and started to wabble..... im like oh yeah!.......10 min later shes still standing, then , she lays down,......wtf!.....waited and watched her till dark then gave her another 30 min, total time from shot,1.5 hrs......got down from my stand then started off towards my luminock, stopped at 10 yrds(know about 20 yrds from where she lay) got an idea and turned on my head lamp, 2 eyes just sitting there looking at me!..... shut off the light waited 10 min, turned around and snuck out, im goin back in at first light, hope the coyotes dont get her. not for nothin, .... the shot placement looked great when the luminock entered her, what the hell!  |

Had that happened one time to me. Looked to be a well placed shot with a good blood trail. After about two hours of trailing we came upon the deer and jumped it up. Waited another hour in the pitch black dark then started easing down the blood trail again. When we found her she was still warm and looked as if just expired. Only logic I could come up with was it only hit one lung. Who knows.

I hit one a couple years ago that did the same thing. Also only hit one lung somehow. You did the right thing. Good luck finding her.

Good idea backing out, sometimes the will to live in a deer is suprising, very resiliant animal!!!! Let us know how you make out

Let us know how you make out no kidding. shoot a buck while he's chasing a doe and see how many shots it takes to bring him down. buddy shot a doe a couple of years ago and she took off running. you want to talk about a blood trail, it looked like somebody poured out a bucket of red paint for 100 yards. to top it all off, when we got to where she was, she was still trying to get away from us. |
