I haven't got a shot yet in 5 trips to the woods. My grandson got a shot on opening morning of the youth season but didn't knock one over. I have seen more deer than turkeys, and the deer have ruined more than one morning hunt for me. I still have 3 weeks left in the season so I don't think I'll give up trying.

Nothing! After opening morning I was a little bummed to not find that Bird. I hunted hard and never heard or seen another Bearded Bird. Everything after opening morning were all Hens and lots of them. My weeks Hunt is over

I haven't been out yet, but one of the lads at work knocked down a opening day gobbler. I'm going out of the country on Monday for 2 weeks & hope to get out during the last couple weeks.

We are down to the last few days of the season and still no shots for me. I think the unusual warm March changed the timing of the breeding season. Most of the hunters that I work with all agree that it has been a tough hunt this year and we have all had the same luck...BAD! I've heard a few gobbles, and talked with one on sunday morning (5/13) but he circled me and I got busted big time from behind. I never had a chance to get the safety off.
Brendan and I are going to give it one more try Saturday morning. It will probably end up being a Grandpa & Grandson day in the woods enjoying the natural world. Even if we don't shoot a gobbler, it just doesn't get any better than that!

I must agree with ya smoke. Was never able to locate any birds still breeding. All i could find was a few jakes and lots of lone hens. Funny part was they were coming into my field right up to opening day and then bam just gone. Either way enjoy your time with your grandson! Ijust cant wait till i can take mine out.
