many of you may have remembered my post about accuracy on the other board. well, i finally made it out to the range yesterday with the .270 and got her dialed in. it's not perfect, but it's definitely close enough to put one down without breaking the bank on ammo! i've got to bite the bullet, so to speak, and start reloading. walmart's the cheapest place to get ammo around here, but they're always out. that leaves my local "outfitter" as my only other choice. those greedy %@(*$!'s were charging $28 for a box of 130gr core lokts. that's outrageous. so what i did was buy a box of nosler ballistic tips and decided to site the rifle in with the leftover 150gr bullets from a few years ago that my wife never used(it's her gun). this is where the weirdness starts, and maybe some of you can answer why this happened. i got the 150gr's dialed in and switched over to the 130's. well, i figured that if anything, the 130s might be shooting a little higher. when i sent 3 down range i went down to check and two of them were on the right side of the target and i mean on the edge. the other missed completely. so i figured i jerked a little so i sent another one down. it was nearly off the page too. the wind was blowing, but not bad enough to push the bullet that far off. the bbl was hot, but not scalding and i know the bbl can warp when it's hot, but still...not that bad. i made some adjustments to the scope and all was well. so what does everybody think? should i trust it, or go out and shoot again with the bbl cold?
