Well I got an offer I couldnt refuse this weekend. Friend of mine's mom got rid of her beach house, then decided to get another one, then decided she only needed on cart to keep the kids away lol. My friends mom offered me, if I come help my friend paint the downstairs of her house I could have the cart. So....I said heck ya! Originally, before I sw it they said it was a 2001, after looking at the pic he sent me, its lil older, prolly early to mid 90's. Its all electric, has a spare motor, and rear seats. Gonna need new batteries most likely and some resto work. We have been wanting a cart anyway to take camping with us and i figure I could use it to haul the kids around the woods during deer season while we check stands, bait ect. Prolly wont mess with it much until after the hunting season ends, figure it give me a nice winter project to play with. Should have it home sunday night after we finish with the house so I can get more info on it. Planning on doing a 4" lift with wheels and tires, paint and prolly seat covers, changing the front end to molded in headlights, would like a radio for cruising around the campgrounds, of course batteries. Prolly gonna have to strip the whole thing and paint he frame and under carriage. It doesnt look like much now but, few months and I think she will be ok! Attachments:

After you do all that work won't it be cheaper to buy a newer one with the stuff you want?
Sounds like you want a Gator to me...rather than a souped up golf cart.

Actually no it wont be cheaper, if you price out new ones with all the work done they are very very very expensive. Especially around my area, lots of peaple buy them for there beach houses ect. so there is a market for them. Also I have a fourwheeler, dont need or want a gator, its hard to haul around 3 or 4 peaple on a fourwheeler or gator, this will have seats for 4, plus with a small basket on the back we can haul corn/minerals/deer and will be very quiet. Also, the main thing will be for camping, of the campgrounds that allow golf carts, most only allow battery powered carts due to noise, I think with some economic shopping and ebay I can get most things for this cart on a budget, allready figure tires are gonna come from tractor supply, all the work will be done by me and if I need any welding ect my father can do that (he's also an electrician so wiring wont be a problem either). I prolly wont start on it until maybe feb. Hunting season is under way and my fourwheeler is taking up the room in my workshop, and soon goose season will kick in and I will have 5 dozen full bodies in the shop aswell so wont have room for the cart. Think it will be fun to work on, and when I get done, if its not what I want I think I can sell it pretty easy on craigslist and make a few bucks and find another one

I would think you could put less then $1000 and have a nice rig you just need to be smart...

I mite actually upgrade it to 48v system if I have to replace the ones in it. Once I get it home and start taking it apart I will know more, worse case scenario I will sell it or part it out! Either way gives me an excuse to be out in my newly insulated work shop this winter

I know they can drive in a pond and over pampas grass clumps. I also know that you can flip them on their side right them again and keep on going. I also know that they will jump if you come down a good hill and hit a little rise or bump.
But I also konw that a 4 wheeler AND a gator will go EVEN MORE places than a wimpy golfcart. The silent running of the golf cart in my opinion is the ONLY benefit. But that your project and I'm sure you'll have fun and it will turn out great. Best of luck with it.
