I would say you need a trail camera because obviously somethings going on while your NOT there. From what you say it seems like you're right on in making proper efforts at taking out a deer.

Sounds like the deer might have a pattern on you.

Hang in there bud, You sound like you are doing everything right. I will second the trail cam remark. You can learn alot about the deer in your area just using one of these. The next thing i will say is to go out and scout some new areas and see whatsgoing on in some other areas. Look for some rubs and scrapes and droppings. Poop is a sure sign they are using the area and how long ago it was. Other than that keep up the vigil it will happen.

Only other thing I can think you didn't cover is wind direction. Despite your efforts to cover your scent if the wind is blowing toward the deer, they will probably know your there. If these deer are used to being hunted this could be the problem.

Hunt the oaks. I have never seen as many acorns as I have this year, and both deer I killed were full of acorns.

I second the trailcam suggestion. I suspect the deer are moving at night. I'd also say you might be leaving the stand too early. I like to stay in the stand until at least 10:30 or 11:00. If the deer are moving at night, they'll often get up and around mid-day to stretch and catch a snack. Either way, more scouting is in order. You seem to have a lot of sign, and if you're seeing deer but they are too far away, you're just not in the right spot for an ambush. Good luck.

I only saw the deer from that stand once and have sat it at least 5-6 more time since then. The wind could very well be my issue and i've attributed it to at most of my failed days. I will try and stick to the stand a little longer, however sitting on a chain on for 5+ hours begins to suck alot. My climber i can at least lean back and take a 20 min nap if i need it lol.
i can't figure out how to post a pick. I have a google earth pic outlined with hunting area and stand, bedding, and routes marked on it.

If you are washing everything in scent free soap the wind shouldn't matter. I have had many deer pass within 20 yards downwind of me and not one has winded me.

I do all that too and still get busted downwind from time to time. Ofcourse I have had deer come in down wind before. I do believe if you are over 25 ft in the air it helps. Do you get pretty high?

I place all stands ~ 20-22 ft to the seat... i'll see how well everything pans out wed morning. May just bring out the shotgun with buck shot. I have a better feeling with that at 60-70 yds than i do with my bow and i see me having a possible shot at ~10 yds for a short period and up to about 60 yds as they work their way in

Do you get pretty high? No only about 12 feet or so. I have been busted a couple times when it's really hot, but not this year. If it's hot enough to make me sweat sitting still, I take off my shirt and spray all my exposed skin down with scent away. The day I shot the 3 point it was 85 degrees and I didn't have on a shirt. I shot him from 17 yards and he never knew I was there till I grunted to stop him.
