So yesterday the wife to be wants to go riding. Ok we can do that i told her. So after some running around we made it out to the trails. We rode about 60 miles and the headlight on one of my sleds went out while we were riding. So now we start heading back towards home before dark. We get off the trail and start down one of the roads that lead to home. Well the woman starts feeling a little racy. We mess around a little going back and forth passin each other when i decide thats enough and was gonna just blow by her and then it happened. We see 4 deer standing in the road and slow down watching them run off. They leave and its back to "gettiin it" and down the road about a mile or so we are doing the same thing running hard and im being nice sayin i was doing 80 mph and out of the corner of my eye i see a deer coming hard. Well to say it was too late is an understatement i reached for the brakes but it was too late. I hit the deer in the front half and it came back and hit me on the sled and proceeded to get knocked down then slid across the road and right into the path of my fiancee. By this time im sliding down the road trying to get the sled stopped. About 100-150 yrds down the road i get it almost stopped and it turns sideways and rolls over on me. I push the sled off of me and focus my attention on her. I seen her hit the deer and then her sled headed for the ditch and i see her rolling down the road off the sled. My heart is in my throat as im runnning back to her. Thankfully she was ok just a little bruised up from the roll down the road. So after i check on her i start to feel some pain. Well i ended up breaking 2 fingers and slightly dislocated my shoulder. It was one hell of a ride to say the least. Busted up my sled a little but not too bad. The fiancees sled on the other hand had a new attachment to the ski. You guessed it the ski had gone completely through the deer and the deer was stuck there until i could get the sled out of the ditch. Blood everywhere on the road and to top it all off it was a buck that had lost his antlers. I think next time i would prefer to get a buck with my bow versus my snowmobiles. Here is the after pics..... [im g][/img] [im g][/img]

Wow! Glad no one was seriously hurt. Other than the deer anyways.
Hope you heal fully and fast.

Im glad we didnt get that much snow here. Glad to hear your alright. that would have scared me silly to hit one like that. I wonder what the odds are of hitting one with a snowmobile and how often it happens

Be careful on those snowmobiles! A co-worker was killed when the second snowmobile jumped a snowbank and landed on top of his.He was hidden behind the bank.

yeah they can be very dangerous if your not careful. I do believe we will be riding just a bit slower from now on. We could have kept the deer if it wasnt so messed up. After bouncing off of my sled then being shiskabobed by a ski didnt leave much good meat so we left it for the critters.

It probably wouldn't have been any good. The blunt force trauma tends to turn the meet to jelly. I tried to salvage the meat from a road killed doe on a cold day (single digits at dawn, picked it up at noon, still warm underneath) and the meat was wasted. All the internal organs were a nasty gray color and it took forever to get the smell off my hands. I'll never try that again.
