With the mighty mississippi rising and about to top the levees here, they have finally started opening up a spillway here to relieve some pressure. With doing this, many people here will be impacted with devestating floods. One is where I work. Predicting 5 to 10 feet of water here at the plant. I do not live in this area but my lively hood depends on it. Don't know what is coming but sure don't like the feeling. Just remember in your thought me and those who are being impacted by the river.
Krotz Springs, La is where I work if you want to google it.

Thanks. Getting pretty scary around here now. Military police patroling the plant for security. The town is under mandatory evacutation. We here at the plant are being issued placard and passes so that we can access the refinery.

man i hate that. i'll be praying for you and all those affected. it's a shame that this is happening. i've been reading articles and stories about it here and there, and it's amazing to see how politics is playing into it. keeping one town from flooding by flooding another, funny how money talks sometimes. another thing i read was that the flooding is caused by all the snow melting and that there was as much as 50% more snow than normal for certain areas this year and that's why the flooding is so bad. supposedly it happens every 75 years or so. so, in another 75 years, our grandchildren and great grandchildren will be dealing with the same thing.
how's that global warming theory play into this one???

I always try to stay optimistic DL. WIth that said...after its all said and done there will be a silver lining somehow some way. If you don't beleive it then all you've got is despair and that just isn't true. You've always got friends in places that you never knew. American's for the most part always rise to the aid of friends, family and neighbors in need. You in our prayers here in SC buddy.

Praying for you, hate to hear that! Nothing really bad here but I've never seen so much rain! It seems like it has rained everyday for 4 months!
