Well like Jtrmt said in his post its been dead around here so I had a little time right now and decided to post up the rest of my duck and goose hunting year.
Well I ended with the 8th I believe of October in my last post so here we start with the 15th. One of my good buddies found a spot that I had permission for and said we could get some good birds off it and maybe even my swan (I was awarded a swan tag this year) I was jacked so we went out. The next morning was a little rough for me and for some reason I didnt hear my alarm. I woke up to banging on the door at 6 am with opening light being at about 7 and our spot was an hour away. needless to say we got there late. when there we put on a 200 yard stalk on some swans which ended up being a tad bit far to shoot. me and my buddy set up the deks and began the day. we layed in the grass and pass shot ducks all day. after a while we realized the ducks and geese where going by the cattails 70 yards away so we went and tucked in there. thats when it got fun. we shot a lot of different ducks including a bufflehead, ringneck, shovlers, some mallards and some gadwall. The best part of the hunt though was the last flock of the day. we where one shy of our limit on ducks and 2 shy on geese. I look up and see this flock of about 30 geese coming straight at us. They are about 20 yards away and I call the shot. I sit up and drop the first one, drop the second one and then I see a speck of white in the flock. Its a snow goose! I was so jacked I figured I had to try my last shell at it. 60 yards and going away I pull the trigger and down he goes. After a few hoots and hollers I chased this thing 150 yards around this pot hole and almost had water in my waters. we ended up getting our last duck and ended with a limit of ducks and geese and my bonus snow.

The next time we went out was the 18th. My buddy invited me and my roommate and one of our other friends to our same hole as the 15th. He told me and I knew that there wouldnt be many birds because we shot them up so bad on the 15th. We went out any way. Seeing it was a tuesday and we had class it was a quick hunt. I found out that my spare set of waders I lend my roommate had a hole in them and he was not happy lol. That morning we ended up shooting a goose and six ducks and was one of our worse hunts of the year but we still had a good time. I also shot my first redhead of the year.

we had a few weeks that then went by when we didnt hunt much. my friends from MN all went back for deer hunting and there really was no other push of birds. we went out once i believe and I shot one duck that we could not find. the next time we would head out would be the start to the best weekend of my life. It was november 10th and I had a field that I found the week prior but didnt want to hunt by myself. we had several other spots for the weekend so I decided to go on a hunt with my buddy thursday morning before class. we where running alittle late after malfunctions with our gear but got set up with 10 minutes to spare. we where laying in our blind when 2 other trucks pulled up. one set up 200 yards ahead of us and the other 200 yards behind us. I was pissed but told my friend we would get shooting because we were where the birds wanted to go. sure enough the first flock of about 50 come in. i sit up and drop a couple and my friends gun jams. the next flock of about 100 come in and almost landed on us. we sit up and drop a few more. I keep calling and work half of the flock back around and they come right in. we sit up and drop a few more. those where all the ducks we saw and we ended with 6. unfortunatly we shot a lot of hens however we had to face the sun so the glare was awful.
the ducks
the next day turned out to be maybe the best hunt of my life. flock after flock these ducks came in almost to close to shoot. me and my friend went out on 11/11/11 because we had no school due to veterans day. all our other friends where leaving to go home for a long weekend or go to the second weekend of deer hunting in MN. After over 50 calls me and my friend could find no one else to go with us so it was just me and him. we knew this was bad because this field was hot. After 10-15 min we had our 2 man limit of mallards. thats with 2 gun jams and twice i forgot to put shells in because i was in so much shock. I also got my first triple on ducks that day. I didnt have many pictures because I lost my phone and we wanted to get out of the field fast to try and hunt it the next day (we had ducks landing in our decoys while we where picking up with my truck in the field) I did however bring a video camera for the this day and the next 2 and got some great footage and made a sweet video. Ill try and post the trailer I made of me shooting my triple and later Ill attmept to put up the entire video.

the next day was almost better than the day before. again we looked for more people and could find no one. my buddies dad and brother came up so this time we atleast had 4 people. we arrive in the field extra early (i always like to be very early just in case) and get everything set up. my buddies dad pulls the truck out of the field and 2 trucks with trailer come rollin in. I stop and talk to the guy and after telling him i have permission they leave. good thing we got there early or we would have been without a spot! the day was amazing with flocks of 20-30+ almost landing on us. it was truly what a waterfowler lives for.

The next day was the 13th and we drove by and saw that the birds where still in the same field we hunted the day before. thats where we went. Me and my buddy where nervous the other guys would show up so we got there at 415. shooting was at 730 lol. we didnt do bad but the birds defenatly got gun shy. my buddy and his brother didnt shoot the best to say it nicely but they had good back up we ended with 12 ducks and 5 geese 2 of which where blue geese. I also got a blue but it sailed off to a pothole and no one had waders so we couldnt retrieve it. here are the pics

we waited a week and it got cold! november 18th was a friday and me and my 2 buddies went out before class. we got 4 that day but had to leave early so I could get to class (walked in to class a minute to spare with goose blood on me and my camo lol)

The next day was the coldest day of my life. 0 with a 30 mph wind. we got out there and sat for 5 hours. my 2 buddies went to sit back in the truck to warm up. Me and my friend stayed out and I called 1 lone goose in and I dropped him first shot. We didnt see anything else so we brought the trucks out and started picking up. Turned out we where half way through picking up flock after flock tried to land in the field we where in. It sucked lol but was still fun.

We went out the next day later and didnt see a bird so after sitting in the cold for a while we packed up and left.
Our final hunt was december 3rd. It was the closing day of duck hunting and I told my buddies even though most of the ducks and geese where gone I had a spot we could maybe go. We went out and saw thousands of geese and had a couple thousand land in the field we where in 300 yards ahead of us. we ended up getting three geese and I shot the 2 ducks in a huge 200+ bird flock and flew by us at about 40-50 yards. It turned out to be really fun. we went out later in the week with a few buddies for geese but ended up not getting any.
