It's over.. Pretty slow this year. Wasn't seeing any deer. Two weeks ago I took a doe and figured I would wait it out for a decent buck. Well the only bucks I've seen have been small . A couple 4 pointers a small 6 and a small 8 plus we have a point restriction. At least 4 points on one side so last night I figured I was going to take the small 8 if he came back or a doe and be done. So about a half hour before sunset a doe was coming in but she stopped before getting into my shooting lane and stood there staring to the left of me. I was pretty sure she was seeing other deer and stood still waiting for it to come around where I could see it hoping for a big buck. Well no luck, small fork horn who headed straight for the doe. She ran away and to the south from me and I thought that was it. The buck followed but when they got to the bean field she turned and came back toward me stopping just before my shooting lane. I was already pulled back so I waited for her to start walking ahead and grunted when she got in the lane. She stopped and I let the arrow fly. She ran straight away from me and crashed right in the thickest brush around. So my season is done. feels good to get some venison in the freezer again.

Hey wtjosaas. I haven't been here in a long while but suddenly had the urge to try and find my way in again. Way to go on the deer. Some seasons are like that; there just seems to be no deer around - at least not where you are. Now you've got a full freezer and can enjoy steaks and burgers until next year.
I saw quite a goodly number of deer here this year, including some good bucks. But I had no luck getting close enough with the bow without getting busted and finally picked up the rifle a couple days ago, and got a nice buck.
Again, congrats.
