Don't know about you guys, but this year has been crazy!? Life in the deer woods I guess!? I got over it and decided to hunt a favorite stand of mine for the muzzleloader opener this morning. A nice hunter moved my trail markers that had been there for the past 6 years and marked his own trail with them! Man, people drive me crazy sometimes! We as hunters have an unwritten code of respect to each other. It is just that many never go by it. Can any of yoy relate?

Oh man can I relate. This year the worst. I got permission to hunt and put out corn and was informed that the area was hardly used at all. Well directly opposite...its HIGHLY used. First trail cam pictures pull I got at least 4 horse riders with or without accompanied walkers, a couple dogs, a golf cart with dogs in tow...and remarkeably only daytime deer typically within 45 minutes of the people/horses.
I'll be moving my stand when I find a more suitable location. For now I'm just gonna use a climber so I can hunt/scout from above still.

I can definately relate. I don't often hunt public land because of disrespectful hunters. However, there is a national forest property I sometimes hunt in Del Rio. It surrounds lake Amistad. Lots and lots and lots of deer and it's bow hunting only. I wouldn't hunt it if these knuckleheads were allowed to use guns. However, more often then not I've snuck into my huntin spot an hour before dark and got good and settled only to have a hunter walk by me at first light, looking around as if lost and making all kinds of noise. Makes you want to put an arrow in his buttocks. Frustrating.

I can imagine seeing the headline on that one..."Hunter shot in the ass as he trasped through a public hunting area where others hunters were already set-up and hunting." Apparently there IS a hunting ethics code between hunters afterall...and the recipient of the arrowed buttock learned that the hard way. LOL

I know how you feel Term. I hunt state land probably 70% of the time. Everything from stolen stands to having people take up a spot right under one of my stands. Its frustrating to say the least. I always have those where is the dnr when you need them moments!!!!

yeah, it's just some people. buddy of mine had his stand stolen one time. the lease borders some game management and the stand was more than on our side of the line. another time he was hunting and saw a guy walking down the logging road he was sitting on with a gun in full stalk mode. he yelled down to him and asked him what he was doing and the guy said, uh just looking for arrowheads. yeah, and my buddy flew up into that tree too. i don't know what kind of arrowheads he's used to looking for, but the ones i find don't pose much of a threat.

Been there done that. Ya know the day this thread started i went out and found that someone had put up a pop up blind 50yds from my stand. So i had to move my stand so i could see some deer again. Well i did move it and saw 9 deer that night so maybe i should go and thank him. lol
