Well guys i went out last night and had one very distubing hunt. So i get out there about 4:30
and setup my doe decoy about 40 yds out in front of my stand. All is well at this point. About 30 minutes go by and i see deer headed my way so i start watching intently to see whats coming. Turns out to be a doe and 2 fawns. They come right to me and the decoy. Well usually will bust the decoy for what it is but instead of blowing and snorting she walks away like nothing happened. I thought cool cause i wasnt into shooting a doe right at that point cause i have a scrape that was just made so i was waiting for the guy that made it. Well after the doe left i pulled out my bleat can and flipped it 3 times. 15 minutes later i can hear a deer coming my way. A young spike comes walking in just affixed on the decoy and walks all the way around it and passes 15 yards from me. I let him walk and just watched then i see another deer coming to the decoy. This one is a shooter (big 8) so i prepare for the shot as he is on the same trail as the spkie so i know hes gonna pass at 15 yds. Everything goes according to plan until i released the arrow. It hit him in the shoulderblade and the arrow never penetrated more than 2". I watch him run about 20 yards and stop. This is the crazy part of all of it. The deer reaches back grabs the arrow with his mouth and pulls it out!!! Im freakin out at this point. Then he proceeds to stand there and lick the spot where i hit him. After a minute or two he just walks off into the brush. I hear noise for about 10 minutes and figured he had walked off. I sit and wait another 20 minutes and go retrieve my arrow. As i pick it up i hear him get up and run off. Now im really freakin out. So i walk back to my stand and get back in my stand. Really bummed at this point so istart texting my hunting partner and tell him i was thinking about just heading to the truck. He convinced me to stay there. So i did. Well a 1/2 hour before dark a pack of 5 deer come by and the last didnt leave. I had to do something to pick my spirits up so i took this doe.
