Im gonna try to hunt all day this Tuesday and see if they show up. They seem to be a week rotation...coming through during the day every other few days or so. I'm figuring the buck will be coming through more frequently due to the rut here in the next week or so as long as the warm wethaer didn't set it back in some way. We got cool again though this passed weekend so if it stays Tuesday might just work out very well.

I went out today for a few hours cause I had the time...nothing until 2:18 pm. Had a nice buck gallop through just beyond the trees in the marsh but couldn't stop him for a shot. He looked pretty good and most likely was the 7 or 8 pt that I have on camera. I pulled the cam card and got a few pics from earlier this morning...if I had been in the stand at dawn I would have possibly taken a deer. I had several come through around 7:45-8:15am. I don't know what that buck was running from or too but he caught me off guard. My shooting window into the marsh is only big enough to shoot through if the deer is walking. Also had a huge turkey come up today also...he was at least 3-4 ft tall with a 9-10" beard. He hung around for a while feeding even though he looked right at me in the stand. Is this guy a buck or doe? I'm thinkin buck due to the size but the closeness is probably throwing me. Look at the time of activity.

I'm trying to put a deer down from that hunting locale but no luck so far. I keep getting skunked out there and then taking the climber to an alternative spot. I'm out again this Saturday for an AM hunt. If its BROWN, SILVER< GREY AND walks on 4 legs and is NOT a horse...its down. My fingers are crossed for the shooter I've got on cam and the rut is in MY favor if the does will cooperate and come through I'm pretty sure I'll have a shot at that buck. I may shoot a couple does get down, prop em up and use them for decoys...doe can like crazy and pray for the antlered Marsh Boss to check his harem. (Wow that actually really sounds like a great plan. Either way I'll have deer)

When you see the does, keep an eye on how they are holding their tails. If a doe is walking with her tail straight out and flared or curled, or sometimes even up, it usually means she is getting ready. You can take a chance on shooting her, chances are if a buck is on her scent he will still come. And dont' forget to bottle some of that pee and bring me some!!!!!!

yeah right...like Im gonna bottle doe pee if I shoot one Saturday. grassi you should have planty of hot does on your lease. Check out he RUT Report...it says we're supposed to be seeing rutting deer.
Allhunter...your deer are slightly different from ours down here. The scents are a little off. I ordered some scent last year from a place that got it from NOrthern Deer and ABSOLUTELY NO success with it at all. In fact, I set it out with a trail cam on it and got NO deer. The very day I removed it I got deer again. With that experiement I don't know what it is but something wasn't right with that scent.

Sat in this stand this morning with my buddy and he was able to take his first deer...a light weight 6 pt. It was awesome. That was also the first deer taken from this property this year. I didn't even have that buck on trail cam. So on the way to the processor my buddy say...Its great to be this old and still have a first like this. I chuckled. He's only hunted 6 times in his life. Here's the pic...keep at em guys.

Amazing how some people hunt for years and never kill a deer. Makes me wonder what the heck they are doing while in the woods. Tell him congrats!!!

I can't beleive it when people go hunting over and over again and never even get shots...they must not really be hunting. I like my time in the woods but my purpose is for food and the bonus antlers that come with it.

That's great. I bet he was happy. I will have to say that when I was a kid It was a long time for I ever killed a deer or even saw a deer. I hunted two seasons before I killed one, and that seem like forever for a kid. But when I killed that first one you couldn't wipe the smile off my face. And I killed another doe that same season. / I love being there when someone kills thee first.
I hope he got a little bloody?

When this phase of the rut comes in the bucks dissapear a bit. We did see two small bucks chasing does this weekend. And if your not bottling deer pee your missing out. I actually use a cajun injector to extract the pee from the bladder and its not messy. That is the only scent I have had any success with.

Well if I can get a deer this Saturday AND its a doe I'll get out my injector and extract as much doe pee as I can...and then I'll give you some if I can still have use of your crossbow.
