Ok, I meant to bring this up earlier, but last week driving to the lease at night. I had what I can only describe as a midget deer run across the road in front of me.
It was brown, no spots. It was shorther than a fawn but thicker. It actually had short legs. Maybe 18 to 24 inches tall. and it had a miniature whitetail. Looked just like a deers whitetalil but at a 50% ratio.
It ran only about twenty yards in front of me and was pretty fast, so I was just kinda like what in the hell was that. Luckily my buddy was with me and saw the animal exactly as I did, so we weren't crazy.
I tried a little research on dwarfism in deer and didnt' find much, but besides the survival rate, I would think that it is possible.
The only other thing I contemplated this as being and maybe it will give you a better mental image, is a 40 lb rabbit.

It happens from time to time. It is usually the product of severe inbreeding. I could make a crack about the south and inbreeding, but I will let it slide. ;D

We have had small around here taking that people call Super Bucks. 6 month olds with racks and I mean the biggest racked one I seen was an 8 point (small rack but still had 8 full points). These look like a normal 6 month old though just with a rack.

Well, I didn't know that Dwarfism could be caused from inbreeding. But in areas of the south with high populations of deer I am sure it can happen. I often wonder how deer keep from inbreeding period.
I think that alot of the weird things seen out here in the country arent that weird to the country folks. They are just so backwoods that no one else ever sees or hears about it. If I ever talk to anybody around my lease, there is not anything they havent seen.
There was a old country mechanic working on this bulldozer at our property and I asked him when he would be done because I was gonna be hunting nearby later.
After a bunch of mumbling, all I could make out was that when he pulled up to the bulldozer that morning there was a buck standing there, with a rack that was atleast 24 inches wide by the gesture of his hand held up like a rack over his head.
I immediately just figured he was lying, but then I got to thinking what if he wasn't?

You all ought to ask Term, he always seem to keep the dwarfs thinned out around his hunting areas.
