Well this year I finally went all out on a good rifle setup. Got a Sako A7 in 300 WSM. I had pretty much narrowed it down to this or a Tikka then the Sako went on sale at Cabelas for super cheap so i had to pull the trigger. So far this thing shoots like a dream! Action is really smooth and has the second best trigger i've ever pulled. Stock looks great and seems durable...but its been babied since day one. I haven't found one thing about it that I dont like. On to the good stuff....I started with a box winchester supreme 180grn accubonds and couldnt get them to group for crap that was $50 down the drain....next i went to federal 180 grn accubonds and BINGO! Within 5 rounds it was excatly where I wanted it and the last 2 holes were touching (first time id ever done that with anything stronger than my bushmaster) so I was pretty stoked!
And for the field report...
1st shot- doe-203 yds..she dropped like a friggin rock, kicked her legs for a couple seconds and she was done
2nd shot-doe-317 yds..once again she went straight down THEN jumped back up ran about 10 yds and piled up. Shoulda heard my buddy who was spotting for me "shes down, NO SHES BACK UP, oh shes back down!!!" it was pretty funny
So its 2 for 2 and going for 1 or 2 more over the next couple weekends. Hopefully something with some horn this time.
Optics- Topped it off with a Leupold VX-3L 4.5-14x50 on Warne rings and got a Leupold RX-1000 TBR for ranging them...more to come on these in the optics section.
Overall- Best purchase ive ever made, this rifle will be with me till the day I die.
