anybody have any experience with a taurus m66? sold my little .40 last year and i'm looking into getting a revolver and as much as i'd like to have a 44, i don't think my wrists could stand it, so a .357 is on my mind as of right now.

Taurus makes decent guns. Some are great, some are lemons. Just like any other maker out there. My only concern with Taurus is there customer service. If it breaks and you need warranty work, they will fix it up for you. But, it will more than likely take quite a long time. I have heard anything from 4-20 weeks. Not that they do it on purpose, or are inept, just very busy and run behind schedule.
I would feel pretty confident buying one as long as I could give it a real good look over before purchase. I would suggest you steer clear of ANY that have a ported barrel though. They sure do port a lot of models. It just increases noise, and puts up a pretty impressive fireball. LOL

Fire IS fun, except if you get in a gunfight at night. After that first shot, you will be pretty much blind for a short bit.
But, on the upside, if you miss with that first shot you will have probably scared the crap out of the guy. I know I would be scared at seeing a giant fireball erupting with lots of noise from an angry homeowner.LOL
Just make sure you watch those curtains. Whether or not you stop the bad guy, your wife will be pissed if you burn the curtains.......LOL

The GP100 is like the AK version of a revolver. Built for stout, and lasts a long time. If you are looking for a smaller gun, the SP101 is a good gun as well.

The S&W 686 is the first revolver that comes to my mind when thinking of a 357. The S&W model 60 is also pretty darn sweet, but in a much smaller size. Great guns, but a little pricey. The good thing is that Smith & Wesson revolvers hold their value pretty good.

My Dad got the Taurus 44, and didn't like it. Then he got the S&W 44 and that baby shoots sweet. Shooting Coke cans at 40 yds never seemed so easy.

thanks guys. i need to see if i can't find some people that have them and start shooting each of them to decide. gotta get my new rifle first though. i still got the old 870 with the 20" bbl and full turkey choke in it for home protection. if the fool that breaks in my house doesn't turn and run when he hear's me pump one in the chamber, then may God have mercy on his soul. i made the mistake of dove hunting with that gun one year and had a turkey load left over. buddies talked me into shooting a dove with the turkey load. sorry, just threw up in my mouth a little. ;D really wasn't that nasty, i think we found a feather and that was about it.
