I have personally hunted with a Remington 308 suppressed with a night optics gen 3 d760. The scope its self cost right $4k. In my opinion its the only way to go. I would stay away from anything gen 1. They are just a waste of money. Im saving my money for a gen 2 d760 which run around $2400. I just cant drop $4k on a scope. Check out www.opticshq.com That's where the guys I hunt with have bought theirs from. They also use a muns unit which mounts in front of any day scope. It allows them to got from a 22lr for small critters all the way to the 50 bmg for blast thru hogs. But that unit I be leave was close to $10k. How muck looking to spend. You might look into getting a good flash light mounted on the gun. That's what I started with. I've got a stream light that will put out a solid 100 yard beam at night.

They have a new type of light that mounts on your gun which would be alot cheaper than 2k. Ill see if i can find the link.

Yeah the spot light is out, I was looking to spend my money as wisely as possible hence the research and the asking around. The prices seem to range widely and I'm finding out that they are directly related to manufacturer and quality of optics. I think that for night hog hunting, or racoon, or coyote or beaver the scope needs to be cost effective and durable due to the various conditions and locations of where these animals inhabit. My weapon will be either a .223 or a 22 magnum. Im still deciding that also. If I decide to go with a shotgun then I'll mount the light and start blasting. Another question just came to mind...does red light effect animal behavior as much as standard white? Doesn't the military use red light to help accomodate for better night vision? Thanks guys
