So im pretty sure im going to get my concealed carry licencse this next spring so im looking for some iron to carry. I already have a full size Springfield XD .40 so im thinking im just going to get the sub-compact version of that in the same caliber. Have had no problems with the XD but if anyone has any ideas on something else worth considering please let me know. Thanks

I bought the compact .40 for my fiancee a couple of years ago and although it doesnt get shot very often it is a very nice weapon for carry purposes. And its pretty accurate. Never had any trouble out of it. Very good buy imo.

Glock is the first to come to mind. I now mostly carry a full size M&P 45 acp. If I were to go to a compact I would strongly consider a Smith 5 shot model 60 357 magnum.

Me and my wife carry the Glock 26. It's 9mm but Im pretty sure you can get it in .40. Great guns, acurate, dependable and not real heavy.

Pretty sure im going to go with the compact XD though. Been watching prices on gunbroker and I think i can get one for a pretty good price on there. Want to go hold one first and make sure they are as small as what i want. Want to carry in a IWB holster so it needs to be pretty small. If I could afford it this would be what I would get but unfortunately no:( www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=208684910

You have to go compact for sure. If it isnt comfortable to carry then it will always be a thorn in your side so to speak. I have carried full size glocks and some others but I finally ended up with a S&W 669 with a 45 degree slant leather holster.

Compacts are great, but I really like my full size M&P. In GA with a permit I have the option to either carry concealed or in the open. I do get some looks from time to time with the 45 out in the open, but most just think I am in law enforcement. It is amazing how much better service and treatment you get when carrying a 45 on your side! LOL...

LOL Hopefully some day this state will claw its way out of the stone ages and "allow" us to carry. Well, one can hope anyways.

I agree with scout if its full size it will be a pain unless you open carry. I tried carrying my 9mm and it sucked. I now carry a .25 just for peace of mind. Hope i never need it though.
