Season starts Oct. 2nd. Went last week and checked cameras one last time and topped off the the protein feeders. Temps are due to be mid 50s Saturday morning with a north wind. Got a new place to hunt this year that looks to be a long term opportunity for me. Part of it is 111 acre hard woods never been cut. Then about a mile down the road I have another 97 acre place that has about 40 acres of 10 year old pine mixed with select cut hard wood. Have gotten some pictures of nice bucks but will be more focused on doe harvest this weekend as we are over run with them. My plan is to harvest a doe off each place. I only have two doe tags for that county. Then I can focus on my bucks. Come on Saturday.

3 more days till the season starts. Man I can't hardly stand it. Acorns are really starting to fall.

Hunted Saturday morning. Weather was perfect and shot a doe. Did take a while to find her. Hunted the rest of the weekend and saw other does, no bucks. Acorns are falling like rain. Deer seem to be scattered right now. Bucks usually start chasing around the 2nd weekend of October with the peak being around the end of the month. We will see if it holds true this year.

Went bowfishing Friday night and we shot 63 buffalos. Slept in Saturday morning and got tothe lease around 2pm. Hunted a stand I have in a oak flat. Had a decent 8pt feed around for about 30 mins. Also saw a turkey. Sunday morning had a doe and fawn come in. Did not shoot at the 8pt due to getting pics of a 120-130 class 10pt in the area. Will be back at it hard this coming weekend.

For going bowfishing tomorrow night and headed to the lease after work. Plan on sitting in the stand till time to come home Sunday. Deer are pounding the acorns. Be back out in the oak flats.

Havent updated this in a while. But have put a second doe in the freezer with the bow. Wife has shot her first deer ever and Im still chasing the big guys around. The 10pt Ive been after all season is still lurking around. Just always seem to be in the wrong stand wrong time. Got a hunt planned for west texas this year that I am hoping to harvest a few deer on. Be back at it this coming weekend. Hogs are pounding one of over feed sites every night around 11 so Ill be out there with the night vision to try and wax a few of them.
