Tomorrow is our annual squirrel tournament. We are allowed six squirrels (state daily limit), only one can be a fox squirrel, I just happen to know where a huge fox squirrel is at and what tree he is in. There is a tree standing by its self in the middle of a field and that is where he is at, I'll be there tomorrow before first light, waiting for him to come out. I wonder what passing motorist will be thinking when they see me sitting out there with my shotgun, staring at one lone tree? ? I don't care, I'm gunning for him.

Well the tournaments over and no I didn't win, but it was a lot of fun. The morning started slow, I sent my boys down to the woods and I stayed out in that field to watch one tree for one squirrel. People were driving by, looking at me and I thought this is nuts, so I went to the woods also. Things were quiet for about an hour and then the squirrel activity started and it got interesting. Then all of the sudden a snowstorm hit and the hunting was pretty much kaput. Here are the stats of the Tournament and pictures of the winners. Total registered hunters- 220 Adult class- 147 Youth class- 45 Mentor class- 28 Number of squirrels killed Grey- 220 Fox- 14 Red- 1 Black- 1 Total combined weight 335.02 lbs Mentor winners Youth winners Adult winners There were tons of door prizes, some of them were guns, here is a pick of one lucky fellow.
