Anyone else hunt with a Ghillie suit? Ive Bow hunted with a Ghillie for years & Ide have to say, its a permanent part of my set-up. Its completely eleminated my need for a blind & I also use it in my stand. Its also very warm & the burlap & jute have a very earthy odor that seems to cover alot of my human scent. This one here was hand made last summer. I bought a set of Surplus Gortex Overs & attached cargo-netting to the gortex with a heavy fishing line & a sewing needle. Then I tied the jute & burlap to the netting. It took a few hours(25hrs) to finish but it was worth it.

You put some serious time and effort in that. Looks real good. I used one until it cost me a shot on one of the biggest bucks Ive ever seen while on stand. I was bow hunting and had him come down the trail less than 20 yards from. I went to draw back while I was sitting down and part of it got caught in my lower cam on the bow. I could not get to full draw. Well the buck saw me let back down and was gone. I still use mine will rifle hunting.

Thats happened to me before also, but not on a Trophy shot like yours buddy. & yes, hunting with a firearm & a ghillie is much easier than with a bow. But my favorite time to use it is when Im hunting in CRP. Its a great stalking/still hunting tool.

Never thought of making such an outfit that looks like it would really help. Have to make one to use, I like the idea a lot. Those are great, good job on them.

I used to hunt quite a bit on one. Now that I can no longer use a tree stand, I have been considering going back. The pop up blind is OK, but you definitely need to get in plenty early to set it up. While it goes up in mere seconds, it takes time to quietly brush it in. And with a pop up blind, if you do not brush it in you might as well just stand there with nothing. The deer spot them immediately and stay out of range. Especially on public land where they see them quite a bit.
Maybe this winter I will put another together. It does take a lot of time, but they are worth it.

It looks awsome. I am afraid that I would get all tangled up in it and shoot my foot.

Just finished this Ghillie today. Will wash it in the creek out back tomarrow & hang it in a tree for a week or so before taking it on a hunt. I used a black Gortex Rain Suit & a Camo Boonie hat for my base. It should hold up really well for a couple seasons. Im itchin to get it in the CRP for a hunt.

Here is the two things that come to mind. 1st I hope no one shoots you thinking you are big foot. 2nd, I would be hot as balls in that thing.
But yes it is cool, I used to play paint ball with a guy who had one. You could never see him, I would just shoot in to any bush that looked akward.

I dont use a ghillie when I play Paintball just because it is way to hot to use. Although I do like to use it for hunting when the temp is below 50 degrees. Otherwise its just to hot & bulky. But when it is cold outside, it works great & makes a nice windbreak when on stand on those freezing, windy mornings.
