guys this is a different post and i'm not sure if it can be answered easily, but here's the deal-and i'll start off with a little story first.
about 30 years ago or more my grandpa and grandma went fishing in their pond one day. the fish weren't biting all that good and my grandpa quickly lost interest. well my grandma said she was going to stay. he said fine, you ain't gonna catch nothing anyway, they're not biting. she said ok. well, ol' pops went back to the house and within a few minutes he was nappin' away. a little bit later my grandma comes walking in the house and says, look what i got. she caught a 5 lb bass on a cane pole! i can only imagine how much fun that would have been. at any rate, my grandpa had it mounted for her and hung it up in the kitchen where it stayed for the last 30 years or so. well, i went by there the other week and the fish was gone. my grandma was asleep and i asked my mom where it was. she didn't know, but said she'd find out. my aunt is supposed to get my grandmas house when she dies and has been doing some rennovating on my grandma's dime. another story altogether, but some people don't deserve to waste oxygen. anyway, long story short the mount was found and smuggled out and now belongs to me!
i haven't seen it yet, but it was in pretty rough shape the last time I saw it and I can only imagine what it looks like now. the kitchen has been repainted for a good 6 months and i'm willing to bet it was put in the basement where it's nice and damp. anybody got any tips on restoring it, or should i just take it to a taxidermist and have them recondition it?
oh, and part of the reason why i want to do it is because it's one of 2 fish that have ever been caught and mounted out of that pond. the other one was a 7 pounder that was caught back in april of 2007. it's hanging on my wall! so there's a little sentimental value to the old one being brought back to life so to speak.
