Last Saturday we went to the biggest gun shop within a 2 hour drive. It is like a small Cabela's. Anyways, it was a pretty productive day.
My wife found her future rifle AND shotgun.
For a rifle, she fell in love with a Stainless Tikka T3 Lite youth model. She really liked the Browning X-Bolt, but it didn't fit her nearly as well as the Tikka.
For a shotgun, she settled on a Winchester SX3 youth 20ga. That was the only shotgun she tried that felt really good.
I really fell for a heavy 700, in 308. I still have a few other rifles I want to track down and look at before I buy though.
For a shotgun, I have been wanting a nice O/U 20ga. I was very interested in the Browning Cynergy Sporting. After shouldering it, I was less than excited. I was however very impressed with the Benelli Ultra Light. It snapped right up to my shoulder like a long lost friend. I am just not sure if that is the model for me or not. It is only a few ounces lighter than the M2, and it cost almost $400 more than the M2. I really need to find a couple Benelli 20ga's to try out before I lay down the money. I know they are fine guns. I also know that they are WAY overpriced. They rank as some of the most expensive semi-auto's on the market, yet are among the cheapest to produce. But, I can overlook that if they shoot as good as they feel.
All in all, a productive stop. Also got to pick up some odds and ends, as well as play around with some really neat items.

TThat sounds like a good day! Your wifes choices sound great. I love my SX3 and have never had one problem with it. The T3 is also a great choice, 2 of my close friends both have one and my sako A7 is almost the same all 3 are tack drivers.
As far as the Benellis good luck with that choice! It took me a looooong time to pull the trigger on dropping that kind of money on a shotgun. But now that I have shot it I feel much better about it.
