Does anyone else keep records from trail cam photos of what days and times there bucks are moving during shooting light from over the years. I do and compile it over the years to decide when to take my vacation when the highest movement is of good bucks over the years. Just curious if anyone else keeps any records like that too. Ill have to post some pics of what I do later.

I do take all kinds of notes on trail cam pics and also all my sightings including weather conditions. Comes in handy at times!

Keeping meticulous records of deer activity is a great tool. Wish I would do that. I haven't even set up a trail cam this year; always seemed to busy doing other stuff.
But I'm fortunate to be able to scout in person via spotting scope. The country I hunt is a mix of farmland and sparse woodlands, so the deer are easy to follow along their travel routes without being tipped off as to my presence.
However, I bet there's some dandy bucks I haven't laid eyes on that a trail cam would catch during the night. A month from now, those smart ones will be letting their guards down a bit and showing up during hunting light. I should really try to find out...

I try to keep all my pics with deer during the daylight. Unfortunately, the bucks are still pretty random, I have not figured out any real pattern for them One Pattern I have noticed is the first quarter moon seems to make the deer move the most during daylight hours. Here is a pic I just got over the weekend, right underneath my brothers stand. He came two afternoons in a row and no one was there. He has got to feel sick, I kinda do!

Here is how I do it. I only record good size bucks that are in shooting light day time pictures. I have them saved on the computer and just go in each year and add and update the data numbers and times from what I get. I get an idea of when the highest movement trends seem to be from over the years. Its amazing to see that over the years in November the amount of movement I have gotten between 11 and 11:30. Once you would say it was a fluke. I have been keeping these records since 2006. There seems to be constant movement from Oct 22 Thur Nov 21 almost every day. That's how I came to take my vacation this year from Oct 27- Nov 6 and then Nov.13-20 here is my calendar for movement for the month of October. I mark how many pics have been taken of good bucks moving during shooting light and if and how many were in the am or pm below that. Same for November Then I break down the times in 1/2 hour increments for all together, then October, and November.

That's pretty nice. I got to thinking today after reading the post. I have been running trail cams since 06 and had probably over 100,000 pics in that time. I can probably count on one hand the number of mature bucks I have during shooting hours in that time. And even worse, atleast half of those were before the season started. But things are looking up, At the new property, I have already had two big ones on camera during shooting hours. I am sure alot of it depends on hunting pressure and other variables. Regardless, having these records for where you hunt is very valuable.

I would do the exact same thing if I had the same hunting property year after year. My deal is that I don't know where I'll be huntin from one year to the next. For me its all about seeing the deer on camera and tracking movement or direction of approach so that when I'm hunting that area I kinda have an idea of where to expect deer to come in from. Usually its behind me!!!!
