Cool story! Thats the great thing about owning land near a deer farm.
We have some neighbors just down the road who raise whitetails & elk. Im talkin monsters!!! They have been high-fencing for about 10 years now. Ive watched their herd grow season after season & have played with the sheds theyre taking from these deer. Truly massive animals! They have so many wild deer running their fence line trying to get in, that it looks like 4x4 trails around their high-fences. Theyre not an outfitter but have told me for $3000 I can come harvest a deer of their choice & for $4500 I can harvest an elk & for $5000 annually I can hunt outside the fence. & this is just a simple gesture among neighbors. But I have no intention of leasing land for $5000 a year no matter what the deer population looks like, but every time I drive by there I get a little excited & contemplate the idea.

Funny that you brought this up. My friend has a deer farm and he has the same thing. When his does are in heat he has wild bucks running his fences all the time. This year however, me and some friends actually went and pushed some public land that was right next to a deer farm that shut down and let all it deer out into the wild. Unfortunalty we didnt get one but when I heard that I was excited!

Id be hunting that public land hard if they let loose all the farm raised deer. The future generations of deer out there should be hawgs too. Id make that my honey hole for sure.
