CJ, where abouts are you hunting that the Whitetail season has already started? I'm jealous, I'd love to harvest a buck in velvet. Good luck to ya!

Its the exact opposite here in Illinois. We get two buck tags per season & unlimited does. Season runs Oct. 1st - Jan. 15th. Although we have no limitations on when we can harvest either sex. But with our season starting so late in the year, we never have a chance at a buck in velvet.

At least you get to hunt the rut :)that's when I will stay in my stand from sun up till sun down lol . our rut start's around Oct.23rd

Pre-rut sign will start to be noticeable towards Nov. & by the middle of the month rut is usually in full swing.
In N.C, does buck season end when doe season begins or are bucks fair game all season long?

Man Im envious. Ive still got 4 more weeks till its time to hunt here. And those corn piles look awesome. Baiting isn't allowed here, but I know a grove where the acorns are the size of golf balls. So you'll know where I'll be Oct. 1st. 8)
