Hi guys, it has been a terrible hunt for me this year. Due to some serious health problems with my left kidney I have only been able to hunt 2 times. I've been sulking around the house since the doctor put me on medical leave from work and told me to not try deer hunting. I defied his orders on saturday and went to the cabin with my son and my grandson Brendan for the opening day of the Ohio youth season. It was well worth the effort as you will see in the following picture. I stayed in the cabin and at 07:00 I sent Brendan and his dad out to his ground blind about 150 yards south of cabin where we have always see deer moving in and out of the thicket. All was quiet until 09:20 when I heard his 20 ga. bark one time. Then I heard him on the radio saying that he shot one. Talk about an excited kid, he was breathing so hard he could barely talk. His deer wasn't the monster everyone dreams about ( he saw that one about an hour befor but didn't get a shot.) But it is the one that he will alwas remember...HIS FIRST DEER! It is a young 3 point and field dressed at a respectable 130 pounds. I don.t know who was more excited, Brendan or me. I'm just thankfull that I was there to share the experiance with him. Smoke...
