If a person is placed in a high fenced enclosure, we call it prison. I do not see any advantages to either the deer or helping our cause as hunters with high fence enclosures. A free roaming animal is the only animal that I will ever hunt. This is just my personal opinion. I feel that a true trophy buck has to be scouted and hunted in a free roaming place to be a true trophy. If someone puts me in a stand that I haven't picked out myself from my own scouting, it takes away from the experience. If the deer in an enclosed area were truly hard to kill, then no one would be paying the high amounts of money to hunt them.

So Jd the weather was making your 700 change the way it shot? Ive never heard of that before. Was it the wood stock or something else that would cause this? Wood is porous and will expand when it gets wet. This can cause deviations in the barrels harmonics during a shot.

These bucks were all killed between 2002 and 2009 Dag. These are some of my South Georgia Di-Lane Plantation WMA bucks. I have a few more from there dating back to 1995 and a few from North Georgia. Still some very good bucks down there. I hope to post a new one in a couple of more weeks from there.

I agree with ya my friend! I get sick of seeing the Yanks in the World Series. I also get a kick out of seeing the Dallas Cowboys doing bad in the NFL!!!

While I do not think our rights should ever be infringed, I think that high fence hunting gives true hunters a bad name. It is simply a means of selling deer instead of hunting them.

I have always used the Muzzy 3-blade and a WASP 3-blade. Never had problems in finding blood trails with either. On the other hand, I too have lost deer while bow hunting and with a rifle. It is an extremely sickening feeling, but it does happen. All you can do is your best to practice, wait for shot offerings that you are confident in and hope for the best! Losing deer is part of our sport that to many is a subject that we are afraid to talk about due to pressure from anti-hunters. None of us like to think about a deer suffering, but it is better for the deer to die this way than for it to be hit by a car and injure the deer and people too. The deer will die regardless if it is killed by a predator, disease, hunter or car. I have often threatened to quit bow hunting due to the higher potential of losing a deer, but in a sense it is still nature staying it's course because we as hunters are also predators.

I do think the moon phase affects deer movement, but daily weather affects it more. I agree 101%! I kept a journal a few years back to the times and dates of every deer sighting and then compared them to a moon phase chart. It was very accurate.

Have any of you tried the Gamereaper scope mounts? I put a set on a Remington 700 30-06 and am extremely pleased with them! They are constructed with the base and rings together which results in a much more stable mounting system. No chance of misaligned rings with this system too! I got mine for $40 and just wanted to pass this on if anyone were looking for some good mounts!

When hunting in bear country during bow season I carry my Glock 10mm for protection. It not only works on dead beats, but it will also deter a bear. I will never track a bow shot bear without a handgun. It would be a bad day to find him still alive and p.o.'d to the max!!!

Just curious to what type of rifle stocks you guy's like the most and why? I like the the composite and laminates very well, but it is really hard to beat the beauty of a real hardwood stock! What ya think???

Yep, too many inferior genetics floating around today! LOl.... NO modifications to a firearm should ever be done unless the person doing them knows what he is doing. We live in a not my fault/finger pointing society. It is time that we take responsibilty in our personal screw ups and not blame everyone else.

You can tell which way he is traveling by looking at which side of the tree's have been rubbed. I would have a morning stand set up between the doe and buck trails. I would also set an evening stand up about a 100 yards from the most active field to try and catch the buck in a staging area. He should have some rubs on the edges of the field that he is most often visiting. As the rut approaches, he will be checking the doe's more often and hunting the doe trails would be your ticket! He will be much more interested in a hot doe than a cold tree to rub! LOL.... Good luck!!

I have no problems with Remington 700's safety! I am actually quite fond of it. When will the media accept the fact that everything made can not "idiot proof"!? As said before, the problems exist with people who don't know what they are doing tinkering with the trigger pull. If anyone has a Remington 700 that they are afraid of, just send it to me ad I will keep it for them! I will even be nice enough to pay for the shipping!LOL...
