I would prefer the .243 or the 7mm08, but its just my opinion. I have both but never hunted with the 7mm. That will change after this season. I like the 7mm because of the high ballistic coeff of those bullets which means better downrange perfromance. But like you said, factory ammo is not always easy to find, its pricey, and there arent a lot of load choices. You cant go wrong with the .243. I have killed a lot of deer with mine and every single one has been taken with a single shot and no tracking was required.

My first deer, 2.5 yr old broken 8pt. My first archery deer, 2.5 yr old 10pt. My best buck to date, 137" gross 10pt, 240lb field dressed.

Had stealth cams, moultries, and cuddeback. Personal favorite is my cuddeback. They have a $25 dollar rebate on the capture right now so you can pick one up for about $175. The IR camera has a $50 rebate bringing it to $200. Mine takes great pics, has great battery life, and lightning fast trigger. Well worth the $200 I paid.

I like Nikon optics. Dont have binos but do have their scopes. And keep a tighter grip on the next ones CS! LOL
