Just ordered a Summit Viper from Cabelas. They had em on sale for $200 although they were last year's Realtree Outfitter model. Not a bad deal as it comes with an easy hanger and footrest (probably wont use the footrest, more weight). They also have a $20 off any purchase over $150, so if anyone needs a new climber, it would be hard to beat this stand for $180.

This problem should have been fixed when times were good. (Balance the Frickin Budget) Now times are not so good and no matter what they do, it is going to hurt. If they dont drastically cut federal spending, our debt will destroy our economy and our nation long term. If they cut drastically now the economy will suffer even more in the short term as tens of thousands of federal empolyees along with all those folks dependant on government handouts see their "income" vanish or shrink. Less money to spend = shrinking economy. We need leaders with foresight. My vote goes for fixing the spending problem now (entitlement reform!!!!) and deal with the temporary pain that goes with it as opposed to letting this problem fester and completely destroy us down the road. Get ready for a really rough ride folks.

Me and a buddy of mine had been planning earlier in the week to make a couple of coyote sets yesterday. However we had a pretty good ice storm on Tuesday and Wednesday and the ground is covered in 3-4 inches of ice. Now this ice is probably good enough to skate on, but he still calls me Friday night and asks if we're still on. I asked if he had ice at his place like we did and when he said "yeah", I could telll he was thinking I was wussing out on him. We decided to go and when we got out there he said he didnt have ice like this at his place. It took us an hour and a half to make the first set when it should have taken a half hour because of all the time it took to walk across the field. He fell on his butt twice and we didnt see a single dog. I guess it will give us something to talk about when we are a couple of old farts. "Remember that time we risked breaking our necks for a couple of coyotes?"

A quick internet search yielded an official green score of 203 4/8 for this buck. Thats a little shy of the typical world record (Hanson's 213 5/8) but beats Nebraska's current record typical.

neck sizing and decapping dies...do i need these right away? Neck sizing dies are to be used on fire-formed brass from a particlular rifle (bolt action) and help improve accuracy if you always use the same brass for that particular rifle. If you try to use neck sized reloads in a different rifle than the brass was initially fired in, you will probably have a difficult to impossible time getting the rounds to chamber. Buy a full length sizing die set because new brass should be full length sized the first time anyway. The sizing dies will also remove the primer (decap) in the same operation. You can pick up a neck sizer later if you want to keep the brass seperated and reload for a particular rifle only. If you are shooting anything other than a bolt action, neck sizers are a bad idea.

Mine was decent, but I didnt get to hunt near as much as I would have liked. A word of advice for the rest of you guys, if you are planning on having a baby, dont do it right before bow season starts. Killed a doe with the rifle in WV. Saw a number of deer out of the stand and had shots at 3 or 4 does and a small buck. Passed the small buck (shot was a little far for me anyway) and waited for a better shot on the does tha never materialized. Its been a few years since Ive killed a nice buck with the bow, so I think Im due next year.

The Rock Chucker is a fantactic single stage press. RCBS makes a qualilty product and I love mine. I would get a case trimmer, especially if you are going to be loading new brass. Sometimes those new case necks or those stretched ones that have been reloaded several times can be too long and will not chamber in your rifle properly. Youll want to also buy a powder dribbler/trickler, shell holders, and of course dies. The powder trickler allows you to add powder to the scale a grain at time for precise charges. Also, if you are reloading military .223 brass you will need a primer pocket swager or reamer to remove the old crimp.

They're supposed to be a MOA rifle. TC usually makes good stuff. I have two of their muzzleloaders and they are both high quality guns.

I alway take mine down before gun season. Thats when all those @$$holes come out. Not disparaging gun hunters, Im just saying the kind of morons that run off with other people stuff typically dont hunt outside of gun season.
