The morning started off great. I set up in a rea I know the Birds hang out and day light hit 3 Birds were Gobbling close by. After awhile they stopped as they were on the ground. I worked the calls for a bit and seen Birds moving in but with the winds they were spooky. I was able to count 8 Birds and as 7 of them past by I seen they were all Jakes but the 8th Bird cut away from me and I couldnt see it. I worked the calls with soft purrs and the first 7 turned and came right in to by set-up. Number 8 showed up to my left and it was a nice Tom. He stopped giving me a 17 yard shot with the Crossbow. The hit sounded hard and knocked him right over, I though he was done. After watching him flop for a second he got up and bolted out of there with the other 7 right behind him. I waited a few and went over and found my Bolt covered in feathers and a small amount of blood. I looked for over an hour in the direction he went and nothing, no blood, no sign, no bird.

I bought a raffle ticket last week for a New Benelli 12 gauge Turkey gun. Yesterday while in the woods Turkey Hunting my buddy gets a hold of me telling me when I get out of the woods to go pick up my new gun. Guess what will be in my hands next time out

I havent seen that around here yet. I like the hunt after the Hens are nesting, less work and calling lol. I have had good success with go out after dark and using an Owl call to get them to Shock Gobble. After I know where they are roosting I set up in the morning between a close green field to them and a dusting area. Then I sit back and wait. The Toms always head for the field for there last meal and then to an area to dust when it starts to warm up.

Who's ready for Turkey Season to get here already? I have been watching the fields and cameras are going out soon. If this winter stays like it has been this Spring will be great. Decided this year I will be using a crossbow (Taken Birds with Gun and Bow Already).
GET HERE ALREADY WOULD YA!

I carry a Sig P229 for work. Good solid reliable gun & I just wish the trigger press wasn't soo long. Glock has a really nice trigger set I'm told Ned 👮 I have a P229 2-Tone in .40 cal and its a great gun but I wanted a smaller framed and lighter one as well. My Mosquito is also sweet and is a great gun to carry on the trap line.

My guess is they arent the same deer, but are related. I have seen deer taken in areas year after year that all look like the same deer. Its hard to tell from the pic but to say the second one is the same one 3 years later is hard.
My theory is this: Button Bucks get pushed out of a area during the rut most of the time for their saftey and to prevent inbreeding. The Bucks you see arent the BB's from years past. This first Buck looks like it was in your area breeding Does and the offspring was pushed out and has returned. With no pictures of this Deer with the 3 years its my guess its an offspring of the first one. Just my opinion

Thanks guys, Im hoping it does get better soon so I can at least get out. With the dizzy spells though I need to keep my feet on the ground and not 20+ feet up in a tree.

After a few visits to the ER and seeing Eye Specialist I was sent down to UofM Ann Arbor for alot of testing yesterday. They say I have "Central Serous Retinopathy" and they say it should heal itself within 3 months. There is a 90% chance it will due so, the other 10% will involve surgery or the chance of complete vision loss in my left eye.

I think it will be fun also and will be my weapon of choice during the firearm season on state land, need to keep that spot a secret.
